Here is the board stripped of the stock components we want to replace. Please note the 2 thin blue lines drawn on the board just above center. These are part of the original input signal paths. See how close they run to the very noisy switching section? Not a good idea! We don't want our precious input signals picking up all that nasty switching noise, do we? No. So these traces have been taken out of action. The input signals now run via two high quality shielded cables directly from the input RCA connectors to the volume pot. The blue caps Cd1 do provide some RF filtering of the input signal - but it's best to keep all the noise we can out of the signals lines in the first place. Right? You can see the pot end here and the whole new line here. |

The photo also shows the placement of the input caps at the top, just below the white text. You can see that the amp designer has provided us with plenty of solder points to accommodate various size caps. Very nice! To the left you see the input jumper labeled J2. This is normally used if you want to bypass the volume pot. We use it as our new input point. Right and left are clearly marked. The input point become the second row up from the bottom. You can jump out of your new pot to these, if you are using one, or straight to them is you don't need a volume pot. |
