The Trends Audio TA-10 AMP

There is a new little T-Amp on market. It's called the TA-10 by Trends Audio in Hong Kong.

I have one of these amps and have modified it. You can read more below, or follow the link to the modifications.

Go here to see the modifications.

Right out of the box the amp sounds very good, big and bold. The high end is noticeably smooth. The amp comes with a switch mode power supply and IEC power cord selected for your country. The power supply is almost as big as the amp. I like that. =)

Trends Audio seems to be well named, they have picked all the good trends in T-Amp building and put them into their amp. It has film type input caps, aircore inductors for the output filter, polyester caps for almost everything else, and even a DC offset null (1st done by yours truly). The TA-10 even has jumpers to bypass the volume pot if you use a preamp. Trends Audio have also done a good thing in supplying the chip with a healthy solder slug to act as a heatsink. Right on!

When I 1st read about and saw the photos of the amp, I thought there were so many good ideas inside that maybe modifying would not be needed or would be too difficult. Wrong! There is certainly room for improvement. =) I have now posted my ideas on what to do and how.

The bottom line at the moment. The amp is well worth its $129 price tag and may respond well to some modifications. If you are thinking of modifying a Sonic Impactor Super-T, you should take a good look at this amp.
